Samsung Note 7 Fire Incidents – “We sincerely apologize for the discomfort and concern we have caused to our customers.” These words came from Koh Dong-Jin, the mobile business head of Samsung; the South Korea based biggest Smartphone Producer Company. Koh had to admit it after company blamed faulty batteries for the Galaxy Note 7 fire incidents, which led to a humiliating recall of these Note 7 devices. Almost all devices reached back to Samsung within few weeks of its announcement of recalling.

Samsung announced a recall of 2.5 million units after many incidents came into the light of Galaxy Note 7 getting exploded or coughing on fire. The fire incidents cost Samsung billions (almost $5.3 billion) in lost profit and huge reputational damage.  Samsung deployed around 700 engineers and researchers on its investigation, testing more than 200,000 fully-assembled devices and more than 30,000 batteries, it said.

Samsung said that its Internal and independent investigations concluded that faulty batteries, their structure and other additional faults were found to be the cause of these incidents.  After this defect was discovered, Samsung started changing its production to a different battery manufacturer known as Amperex Technology.

Samsung has already started a campaign to restore its battered brand reputation, by issuing repeating apologies and putting full-page advertisements in many US newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post admitting that it “fell short” on its promises. However they have promised for providing a better device in future.
